It’s easy to say that inspiration can be found in many forms and from many different sources. From a person, an event, a place, even a paint color inspiration is unique for each of us! To me, inspiration is as individual as a finger print. What is important to me may not be important to you.
For me, inspiration comes first from my daughters and their families. They are wonderful human beings and I’m very proud of them. Their roles as mothers, wives, sisters, and friends shows me that they are “good people” which is something I’ve always tried to emulate. I’m proud of each of their accomplishments. From their children and their accomplishments to their bright futures, I’m truly inspired.
Connecting with my daughters for my niche in business is inspiring as they appreciate what I do and my niche in business. THAT inspires me!
New, insightful ways of doing business is inspiring. Seeing a new building transformed from an old run down building to a successful new business is inspirational. It’s a unique and creative process when what is old is used again in a creative way, ie retrofitting an old beauty parlor into a pizza parlor and reusing existing artwork and building materials.
People that use their creativity and learn something new and innovative is inspiring. One of my business colleagues just added Pearl Certification to his product offerings. His talents already include home energy assessments, solar, window film and many other energy efficiency products for homeowners. Stepping above and beyond to be a contractor for Pearl shows he is growing his business – hurray!
There are those that think outside of the box and continually strive to improve our buildings, including those earning grants to include ASU Interns. Lucky for me I’ve been chosen for this awesome task of educating ASU Interns (as part of a group setting) about marketing and selling high performance homes. This project is so inspiring because, as part of a grant, we are educating interns and consumers with the end goal of recreating a Micro-Estate project! Just meeting with these folks once a month is inspiring beyond measure!
Real estate can follow a prescriptive path and seem like a broken record if you let it. But not in my career. What inspires me in real estate is the constant evolution of energy efficiency, indoor air quality, water saving measures, and all of the sustainable practices surfacing for our homes and buildings. Each of these has the power to transcend the future of our buildings for generations to come. It’s that promise that inspires me.
Homeownership programs that allow first time buyers to become homeowners is inspiring in and of itself as home prices have risen, putting homeownership out of reach for many first time buyers. I’m hoping that more generations can turn our housing stock into smart homes, making them more comfortable, energy efficient, and save resources.
As we look to 2019, it’s exciting and inspiring to see energy efficiency continue to be important as the end result includes lowering our carbon footprint, thereby benefiting everyone!
